Believe it or not, Christmas is just around the corner. We need to experience hope and light more than ever this year. COVID-19 has added enormous stress to our lives. At Haygood, we’ve been working hard to provide you with a season of hope. We celebrate that God is with us even in the most trying of times. One ancient theologian wrote that the glory of God is a human fully alive. We have planned holiday events that we believe will be safe and hopeful, and make you feel alive in the joy of Christmas.

Haygood Tree Lot – Opens Nov. 27
Our tree lot – a neighborhood institution for almost 30 years – opens on Friday, Nov. 27. Proceeds from our sales will support Intown Collaborative Ministries and Habitat for Humanity. We are looking for volunteers throughout the holiday season,. Sales start the Friday after Thanksgiving, with special hours of noon to 5:00. After that, regular days and hours are listed below: Come celebrate the holidays by volunteering at the Haygood Tree Lot. This is a great way to spread some holiday cheer, meet people in our community and represent Haygood UMC. The lot supplies all the tools and everything else you need, so come join in the fun! Christmas Campfire – Opens Nov. 28
While you are at our tree lot, stop by our Christmas Campfire to enjoy the Hot Chocolate Bar. It is sure to become a great Haygood tradition. It will be open on Saturday and Sunday during the Christmas Tree lot hours, beginning Saturday, Nov. 28. Sign up here if you have a few hours to help us out in the Hot Chocolate Bar.
Plaza Tree Lighting – Nov. 29
It may not be Rockefeller Center, but we hope this year’s tree on the plaza will light up our community. Join in on Sunday, Nov. 29, from 6–6:30 p.m. You can view from our parking lot or plaza – and celebrate hope by bringing an ornament to put on the tree.
Online Christmas Concert – Dec. 13
Instruments. Voices. Our musicians at Haygood have prepared the sounds of joy. This online experience will premiere at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, on our website at haygoodumc.org.
Live Nativity – Dec. 19–20 and Dec. 23–24
We’ve expanded our Live Nativity to include four nights – including Christmas Eve! Experience the story as youth, children, families – and live animals – tell it. Shows run every 30 minutes. There’ll be the opportunity to celebrate by singing Silent Night by candlelight after each show.
Dec. 19 and Dec. 20 7–9 p.m.
Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 5–7 p.m.
On Dec. 23 and 24, you’re invited to enter the sanctuary 5–7 p.m. to receive walk-in Communion.
Christmas Eve Worship Online - Dec. 24
We will have online Christmas Eve services at 6 and 8 PM on our Haygood website. Hear beautiful music, a Christmas message and sing Silent Night.
