Girl Scouts

Girl Scout Troop 21340 meets on Sunday afternoons during the school year at Haygood Memorial UMC.

The troop provides a Girl Scouting experience for the girls of the Haygood community and the Morningside neighborhood with a focus on community service and outdoor activities. We participate in activities with other Girl Scout troops in the Phoenix Rising Edgewood Service Unit, in the Girl Scout Council of Northwest Georgia, and have undertaken a variety of local, national, and international service projects. Girl Scouting provides an safe environment for girls to explore their neighborhood and beyond; to learn new things; to develop the habits of citizenship through community service; and to make the world a better place.

“The complex life of a modern community, large or small, and the widening of our citizenship horizons make two vital facts stand out today. Communities must contain people who can work together and organizations that will cooperate. We need citizens of character, with public as well as private integrity. Unless our young people learn how to plan together, to understand and accept racial and religious differences, and to apply a socially acceptable code to their own activities, the cause of democracy is lost.”
